DIY Suitcase Goody bags

This is yet another thing I've made for my little boy's first birthday. Everything is coming together nicely & I feel like I don't need to rush because I've started things early. This was an idea that was in my head. I saw some little goody bags that looked like suitcases on pinterest but a picture was all I could find. After giving it some thought and  a little trial and error this is what I came up with. I think they turned out so cute & I'm so happy with them. I hope you like them too!

I printed out this handle and used it as my template to cut out of light brown felt that had a sticky back.

Trace & cut out your handles.

Cut the top of the bag off

Fold over like shown in the picture & then bring the sides up, sorry I didn't get a picture of them up but when you go to bring them up you will see how they go & where to glue

Use the scrap of the bag that you cut to cover the side that is open & just glue on.

Place little Velcro circles on the back of the handles.

Cut off a little of the bottom paper to reveal the sticky on the back of each side of the handle.

Then place on your bag where you'd like & you've got your bag!

I then decorate my bags, if you'd like to use the luggage tags that are shown I got them from here

May Birchbox

My May Birchbox arrived about a week ago but I've just been so busy I haven't gotten to post about it till now! I really like every single thing that came in this months box. But I must admit I'm not sure I feel its worth $10. I love that you get a surprise and you get to try new things but it gets a little annoying when you fall in love with something that you can't afford the full size. A lot of these samples are high end products and are really pricey. So I'm debating whether I want to keep my birchbox or not. I guess you guys will be able to tell by whether I post a February one or not. What are your thoughts on birchbox? I feel like I"m starting a love hate relationship haha. Anyways on to the goodies!..

I'm excited to try out the shu uemura shampoo, I've heard good things about it. I have tried the stila glittery liner & I really like it it has good color pay off while also having sparkle and my eye always goes to anything that sparkles :). The Miss Dior sample smells very nice a good classic scent but goodness that perfume is expensive! The little card that says xoxo is a little stationary sample cute but I was disappointed that they only gave you 1. Oh & I'm really excited to try the sunless tanner looks good, but that tube is so small I might get one maybe 2 uses if i'm lucky so hopefully I will be able to tell if I like it in just a couple of uses. I hope everyone is having a great week. If you have birchbox what did you get in yours this month?, I'd love to know :)

Creamy Cheeseburger Soup

I've been craving lots of different things, that I've never made before lately. It's been fun because it's allowed me to be creative. One day the thought of cheeseburger soup poped into my head, I'd never had cheeseburger soup before not sure I've ever even heard of it but I thought someone must of thought of this before me. Of course people have, I looked at a few recipes & I just wasn't impressed plus all the bases of the soup called for chicken broth & I had none. I'm also amazed at how many soups people want to through carrots in, do you have carrots on your cheeseburger? I don't so there is none in mine :) So anyways I went off to my pantry and there was a box of beefy onion soup mix mmm I thought to myself that's perfect! Then from there on out I just let my creativity flow praying for a good end result & it turned out so so yummy, I hope that you enjoy this as much as my husband and I did! =)

Ingredients
2 packages beefy onion soup mix
5 Tbs flour
4 cups of water
1 cup of heavy cream or half & half
(you could also use milk if you don't have either of these on hand)
2 cups cheddar cheese
2 large potatoes
2 Tbs. butter
Garlic salt, fresh ground pepper, & sea salt to taste
1 lb. Turkey burger or ground beef if you prefer

Add your 2 packages of beefy onion soup mix into a big pot along with your flour, water, and cream or milk whatever you decide to use or just have on hand. Let this come to a slight boil and whisk frequently until it starts to thicken. This is essentially a gravy base yumm right? While your soup is thickening start cooking off your meat. I seasoned my meat with garlic salt and fresh ground pepper to taste. While your meat is cooking and once your soup is thickened add in your cheese, I also did this to taste so you can add a little at a time till your happy 2 cups was perfect for me. Once your meat is nice and browned pour right into your soup base. Then in that same pan you cooked your meat in add in your butter and your potatoes, you want to cut your potatoes into small pieces so they cook quicker. Cook over medium heat until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, season these with sea salt to taste. Once your potatoes are done just throw them into your soup give it a stir and your ready to eat! I like to add a little extra cheddar cheese to the top before serving & enjoy!

Bon appetite!

Misscarriage

As much as I hate to write this post, I know I need to. On the night of Mother's Day I went to the ER because I started to have heavy bleeding, and I was 7 weeks pregnant. I was so scared & I couldn't help but cry. All of the nurses and the doctor were very nice but I had a lot of waiting I had to do. Which only gave me more time to think and end up in tears again. I knew what was happening wasn't going to have a happy out come. I went in for an ultrasound & the baby was still there, right afterwards however I passed the baby. It was so sad and surreal to see the baby on the screen & then before I knew it that baby was gone. If anyone of you have experienced a miscarriage or are going through one right now my heart goes out to you. My heart broke but I know in time it will heal & I'm so grateful my parents were here for me since my husband is away. I am also grateful for my precious baby boy. I hope you all have a wonderful week

DIY Soda Can Airplanes

First of all Happy Mother's Day to all of you mommies out there, including my own. Love you mom! I hope everyone has a great day :) ..

This is another craft I've done for Colten's Birthday party. I am using these to hang on either side of his banner, which I will do a post on as well :). I may also make a few more just for decoration. They are so fun! I hope you enjoy this tutorial, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. I searched and searched for a tutorial on a soda can bi-plane and couldn't find one anywhere but then I found a template & was so happy because it made it much easier on me then having to free hand everything.

You will find your template here

Print out your template & then cut out all of the pieces. You will then want to cut your cans open, if you have a handy man around the house I"m sure he can do this quickly for you.  Thankfully I had my dad since he's here visiting and my husband is away for work. If you don't though you will want to carefully make a slit in the top and bottom and cut them off so you have a sheet of your aluminum. Then trace your pattern onto all of your can's it took slightly less then 6 cans to make an airplane, we got 2 with very little left over out of a 12 pack.  It is fairly self explanatory as to how to put the plain together just takes some folding and hot glue. But I've included pictures of the process hopefully this helps, but like I said if you have questions just ask :).

This is how you will want to trace the top wing and bottom wing, so that you can just  fold it together for a thick piece & the outside of the can showing on both sides.
You will see my wonderful mom & dad helped :). We cut a slit in our can and then glued it back together to make it a little smaller, about the size of a toilet paper roll. This is optional

Another picture of how I traced things.

Glue your tail to the center of your rear wing.

This is showing how the wing supports go on.

I have also made candy airplanes for his party if you'd like to see those click here
