Spaghetti Pie

This is one of my favorite dishes to make for my husband & I it's delicious and since there are only 2 of us we usually end up freezing left overs and its just as good the 2nd time around! =)

Spaghetti Pie

Noodle Layer Ingredients
1/2 lb of spaghetti noodles
2 Tbs. butter
2 Tbs. flour
salt & pepper to taste
1 egg
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Meat Layer Ingredients
1 small onion (chopped)
1 pepper (chopped)
1 Tbs. butter
A splash of olive oil
1 lb. ground turkey or beef (I always use turkey burger because I prefer it but if you prefer beef that's fine)
1 egg
2 cups of your favorite spaghetti sauce
Garlic salt & pepper to taste

Directions for making the noodle layer

Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain & return to pan. Stir in butter, flour, salt & pepper. Stir to mix well. Beat egg in separate bowl with milk then add to noodles. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat & add Parmesan & mozzarella cheese.

Directions for making meat layer

Heat up a pan & add your butter & olive oil. Once pan is hot add in your chopped onion & pepper. Sprinkle with garlic salt & pepper and saute until soft. Brown ground turkey (or beef) and add additional garlic salt and pepper while cooking to taste. Once the meat, onion, and pepper is all cooked together turn off heat and crack your egg in a separate bowl and beat then add into meat mixture along with your 2 cups of spaghetti sauce. Stir everything together.

This is what it should look like before being covered with foil & put into oven.

Preheat oven to 350. Spray your pan with cooking spray and layer sauce & noodle mixture. I add a little sauce to the bottom & then add half the noodle mixture, more sauce, the rest of the noodles & then finally the rest of the sauce. I also like to cover mine with aluminum foil & place on a tray in case of sauce spilling over. side note: spray aluminum foil with cooking spray before covering your dish so it doesn't stick! Cook for 30 minutes & enjoy! =)

Fresh out of the oven! I guess I could have used a bigger pan, but now you see why I put it on a pan in the oven! =)

All that's left to do is dish yourself out some & grab a fork. bon appetit! =)

Soft Pretzels

Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog :) Today I will be showing you all how I make homemade pretzels. A few years back I used to work at a pretzel shop. I loved working there because cooking & baking is a huge passion of mine. So getting to make soft pretzels all day was very enjoyable for me! I hope you enjoy this recipe and please if you have any questions just let me know & I will be sure to respond as quickly as possible! =)
Ok, lets get started!..

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 1/8 tsp. active dry yeast
2 Tbs. light brown sugar
1 1/8 tsp salt
4 cups of flour

Baking soda mixture
2 cups warm water
2 Tbs. baking soda

Other Ingredients
Coarse salt & butter

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Put your 1 1/2 cups of water into a bowl & heat in microwave till warm (about 50 seconds). Careful not to make your water to hot because you will kill the yeast if you do. Now add your yeast & let sit for about 30 seconds
Add sugar and salt & stir.

Now it's time for the flour. I like to add 3 cups of my flour and stir then knead in the last cup.
You will want to knead your dough for about 10 minutes until it is no longer sticky
Once your dough is kneaded spray with cooking spray and place in bowl
Cover & let rise for 30 minutes.
Once dough is risen divide into 4 sections. Each section will be a pretzel.
Make the dough long & fold into a pretzel. I like to add shredded cheese to the center of mine, but that is optional. If you'd like to add cheese flatten your long piece of dough and sprinkle cheese inside
then pinch together and fold into your pretzel.
Now dip your dough into your baking soda mixture
tap dry on a towel then place on your pan.
Once you've done this to all 4 pretzels your ready to put them in the oven for 10 minutes.
After the pretzels are done cooking brush them with butter & sprinkle with salt.

Yum..enjoy! :)
