How to - Origami flowers

Ok, time to show my crafty side! =)

I'm currently working on another craft idea I have using these flowers. So for now I figured I'd make a post on how to make the flowers & then post my idea later on when i have it all worked out =). These flowers look like they'd be hard to make but really they are very simple, if you have any questions feel free to comment bellow & I will answer as quickly as i can!

Start out with a page from a magazine

Fold your paper in half

Fold in half again

open up your last fold and cut down the center fold line

open what you just cut &cut down the center fold again

this is what you should be left with

We want to have a triangle to start our folding for each flower petal so fold one corner to another until you have a semi triangle like this

The back will look like this, cut off the excess so your left with a triangle like whats shown below

Fold each bottom corner up to the center point of the triangle on both sides

It should then look like this

This part is hard to show how to do but I tried my best with the pictures so hopefully you can figure it out. Grab what you just folded up and fold it to the edge on both sides..

It should look like this when your done

Open up what you just folded by sticking your finger in it and fold down.

This is what you should have when your finish that step.

Fold the tops down on either side so you have upside down triangles.

Fold the sides in half  inwards lining up with crease where my finger is pointed to

It should then look like this.

Put some hot glue on one side

Line up the two sides together & hold so the glue dries.

This is what it should look like, you now have your first petal! =)

You will need 5 petals to make one flower, so repeat the above steps until you have 5 finished petals & you will be ready to put together your flower. To start place a line of hot glue on one petal.

Then place another petal against it & hold till glue dries.

You will want to cut the pointy end off of the flower petals so you end up with a flat surface.

This is the flower forming, just glue all 5 petals together & wa la you have yourself a flower! =)

Front of the flower

Back of the flower should look like this - flat so that you can easily glue it to things. If you don't want to glue your flowers to anything don't worry about making your bottom flat.

Have fun making these flowers & stay tuned for a craft that uses these flowers! =)

You can do so many things with these beautiful flowers & you can make them with many different things. You can make them out of magazine pages like I did here or origami paper, newspaper, thin craft foam, construction paper, paint swatches..the list goes on and on. I chose magazine pages because I love the look & they are super easy to fold! I hope you enjoy making these flowers as much as I did =]
